In 1992 Lucasarts applied their expertise in the point ‘n’ click genre to an iconic hero. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was an incredible adventure packed to the brim with heroic action and amazing puzzles. While Lucasarts may no longer be with us today, it would appear fans of the title are currently re-creating the game in high definition. Simply dubbed Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Special Edition, the team behind this unofficial remake have been busy behind the scenes recreating all of the in-game locations in 3D, along with the many characters and items that are dotted around. While these new visuals may indeed be created in 3D, the gameplay will remain the same and simply use the updated look and feel in the traditional 2D sense. Needless to say there’s a considerable amount of work required for a project of this scale, especially given how deep and expansive Fate of Atlantis was for its time. The team behind this ambitious project recently released a timelapse video of their efforts, showcasing the many hours of work that have gone into the remake so far. While gameplay footage is yet to be seen and a release date is anything but known, be sure to feast your eyes on a HD remake that could soon belong in a museum.
