Custom Built Japanese Candy Cab Arcade Machines In Production
[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]When it comes to arcade machines, retro gamers are often divided into two groups: those who prefer the nostalgic wooden look of a cabinet, and those infatuated with the luscious curves of a Japanese candy cab. With plenty of woodworkers now making their own traditional cabinets for sale, another has joined the ranks replicating that Far Eastern look.
As it stands, the traditional arcade cabinets many of us grew up with are not too difficult to build ourselves using the many plans you can find dotted around online. With the wood cut, bolted, and glued in place, all you'll be needing then is some suitable arcade controls, a monitor, and some form of playing the games.
Japanese candy cabs on the other hand, are a little more complicated to recreate. Often coming in hard plastic shells varying in shape, size, and style, each and every cabinet has a more unique look using materials that are anything but easy to sculpt with. That, however, is all about to change.
Arcade machine builders Multi Game System have finally begun crafting replicas of the Japanese coin-op line up. Using an acrylic lacquer finish to fiberboard and plywood, the distinct look of Sega's Astro City cabinet has been crushed down and condensed into a luxurious bartop arcade machine. Also featuring a green illuminated top and controls to match that of its inspiration, everything about this custom project screams quality.
Unfortunately though, this piece of art comes at a price. Built to order, it would appear the MGS 003 Bartop costs around the $900 mark. Nevertheless, those wanting access to the world of Japanese arcades with little space need look no further.
